Dear Parent,

North Carolina’s school accountability program, the ABCs of Public Education, provides a lot of important information about our schools.  But, these numbers only tell part of the story.  Other indicators of school quality are important to parents and community members.  This information is now in one place, on the North Carolina School Report Card.

This report card includes important information about school and student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, school facilities, instructional resources, suspensions and expulsions, and teacher quality.  Report card data are available for our schools, our school district, and for the state’s education system as a whole.

The report cards are available on the Report Card Web site at www.ncreportcards.org.  Please look at each school’s full report card at this Web site, or read the two-page summary, called the Report Card Snapshot.  Our school district’s report card can be found on the Report Card website or on the Haywood County Schools website.

We want parents to be more informed about our school system’s progress and to be more involved in our schools on a regular basis.  Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss this report card or any other interests you have in our school system.  We will be glad to provide you with a full copy of the report.

Thank you for allowing me to share this report card with you and thank you for supporting our efforts to provide your child with a high-quality education.

Sincerely,

Anne G. Garrett
