Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle, two old-time musicians from Southwest Virginia shared traditional Appalachian music and heritage with the third-grade and fourth-grade students at Clyde Elementary on Tuesday, November 15th.  Anna and Elizabeth played traditional old-time fiddle and banjo music, sang ballads, and taught about the history of Appalachian music while sharing “crankies”, handmade paper story-telling scrolls that illustrate the songs and tunes.  They even got the students to sing and dance along!  Their program was made possible through a $200 subgrant awarded to Clyde Elementary by the Grassroots Arts Program.  The Grassroots Arts Program is funded by the State and administered by the Haywood County Arts Council.
