The University of North Carolina’s Center for International Understanding is delighted to invite applications for the James G.K. Singapore, once a small fishing village, is today a bustling multicultural and cosmopolitan city that offers a world-class living environment, populated by high-rise buildings. Singapore consistently ranks among the highest countries for its education and student scores on a variety of measures, especially in the area of mathematics. Singapore commands a strong presence in the world today with its free trade economy and highly efficient workforce. While in Singapore, we will focus on how Singapore’s K-12 educators are innovatively teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Malaysia is a bustling melting-pot of races and religions where Malays, Indians, Chinese and many other ethnic groups live together across a diverse geographical and socioeconomic area. One of Malaysia’s key features is its extreme contrasts and we will further explore the theme of urban education and development in comparison to our time in Singapore.

For more information, please download the flyer and application.  Completed applications should be submitted to Dr. Bill Nolte at the Central Office no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2015.
