In spite of the ice and snow, Central Elementary School in Waynesville recently held Math Night for students and their families. Many people braved the uncertain weather to attend a play-and-take math activity session in the school classrooms. Parents, students, and their siblings gathered according to grade level to assemble the parts of math related games and play them together. Teachers were present to lead each group, and families were able to take home the games to keep to use whenever they would like. Each family received two math games that were appropriate for the student’s grade level.

Following the play-and-take session, families attended a dessert bar in the cafeteria. Brownies, cookies, ice cream, toppings, and sprinkles were on hand for each person to make their own dessert creation. After enjoying refreshments, families were able to attend the Book Fair in the Media Center.
