A time of excitement and movement ensued when student athletes from Waynesville Middle School came to Central Elementary School recently to celebrate the culmination of the winter reading challenge. WMS students “coached” each class through recreational games, and then they enjoyed ice cream sundaes together. With the weather beginning to warm up, outdoor activities and cold ice cream were perfect choices for rewards after a long winter. The winter reading challenge is part of a yearlong parent involvement activity to encourage nightly reading at home. School classroom winners were as follows: Mrs. Noland (1st grade), Mrs. Ford (3rd grade), and Mrs. Ryan (4th grade). Students continue to showcase their reading minutes accumulation with incentives and rewards throughout the year.
