5th grade students at Meadowbrook were in for a treat when they attended a “field trip” right on campus. Based near Raleigh, Camp Flintlock travels the state to give students a chance to experience the history and culture of Colonial times. Students were able to dress up in costumes, play colonial games, make a necklace out of special beads, have their face painted in Indian war paint, write with a quill and ink, and try authentic colonial foods. Camp Flintlock was set up the evening before and the workers camped overnight and then greeted students to music as they arrived to school the next morning. The students had a marvelous time getting a taste of Colonial American life.
