Students, staff, and families celebrated the service of men and women who have bravely served in the United States military. With help from Tuscola High School ROTC, fifth grade students carried in the flag and led the audience in the Pledge and the National Anthem. Mrs. Leslie Smith, guidance counselor, delivered a moving tribute to the veterans in attendance. A letter went home to families inviting those parents, grandparents, and other family members who have served, or are serving in any branch of the military, inviting them to be a part of this special day. The stage was full of family members and students who are influenced by these veterans. Also, green lights were given to parents who attended. The “Greenlight a Vet” project challenges us to change one light to green to show visible support to all our veterans. We at Junaluska Elementary School want to say THANK YOU to ALL veterans for your courageous service to our country.
