The Haywood County Schools’ calendar has been revised after the recent winter weather and associated missed school days.

It is important for students, staff and parents to note that Tuesday, February 2, 2016 is now scheduled as a full day.  Tuesday, February 2, 2016 was adjusted to a full school day to support the requirement of 1,025 hours of instruction during the school year.

Haywood County Schools averages just over 8 missed student days each year due to inclement weather.  To date, the school district has lost 5 days because of inclement weather.  The school district is scheduled to make up one of the missed days on Saturday, January 30, 2016.  Weather permitting, school will be made up on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until noon.  Breakfast and lunch will be served.

The school district understands that some families and some schools have scheduled activities on Saturday.  Previously authorized school organization activities will be coded like a field trip on Saturday.  If parents feel students cannot attend on Saturday, the school district will make every reasonable effort to code the absence as “excused”.
