Dr. Seuss wrote, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” The staff of North Canton Elementary is working hard to not only help kids grow as readers, but also to love it. On February 4, students and their families enjoyed a carnival-themed reading night. The night kicked off with dinner, followed by teacher-led presentations about strategies to help students become better readers. The kids then got to play reading-themed carnival games while their parents learned about the plethora of resources available at the public library. At the end of the night, students were treated to free popcorn or cotton candy and a new book of their choice. Kids begging to play “just one more game” and lots of cotton candy grins were evidence of a great night for all.
