Jonathan Valley hosted its annual Literacy Night, on Tuesday, March 1, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.Parents and students first enjoyed a pizza dinner in the school’s cafeteria.  Then, parents and students went to their respective literacy sessions per grade level.Kindergarten had a Question Stem, Stretching Out Words activities and made Dr. Seuss hats.  First grade had Climb the Ladder and Reading Aloud sessions. Second grade had Homonyms Main Idea and Question Stem activities.  Third grade had Inferences and Question Stem ideas.  Fourth grade had Figurative Language, Idiom Match and First or Third person activities.  Fifth grade had Prefixes and Suffixes and My Facetious Fictionary activities.

At the end of the sessions, parents took home activities to practice with their children.  All participating students got to choose a free book to take home to enjoy and read.
