imageJunaluska Elementary School recently hosted a Title 1 Lunch and Learn. Ron Moss, Haywood County Schools Elementary Supervisor, shared important information on the written component of the mCLASS reading assessment. Mr. Moss shared that engaging students in writing about their responses to reading leads to better reading achievement. Parents also learned that writing can be a vehicle through which students can build a deeper understanding of subject matter. Parents were given specific tips and strategies to help ask deeper level thinking questions with their students at home. The Title 1 staff was pleased to introduce parents to a new resource call Raz Kids, which is an online reading program that allows students to access hundreds of E-books from home. The Lunch and Learn supported the mission of Junaluska Elementary School to provide resources and support to parents as we seek to develop and grow strong readers!
