Students in Mrs. Hyatt’s 6th grade math class at Waynesville Middle have sharpened their math skills while feeding people around the world.  Students have practiced their math skills on FreeRice.com a few minutes each week.  The website is maintained by the World Food Programme.  There are multiple subject areas to choose from, for every ten correct answers one serving of rice is earned.   The World Food Programme then ships, prepares and serves the rice to those less fortunate.  The website is free to use; ads which run across the bottom of the screen pay for the rice.  Mrs. Hyatt’s students set a goal of feeding 1,000 people this year.  Recently, they surpassed their goal reaching a total of 1,007 people!  Way to go Mounties!
