During the course of the day today, Friday, February 23, several parents and students at Tuscola High School raised concerns regarding school safety and the possibility of a “threat” on the school’s campus.  The Tuscola High School administrative team with the assistance of the Haywood County Sheriff’s Department has thoroughly investigated any and all leads related to school safety and are confident that no clear threat to student safety is present.

This investigation has identified an isolated student mental health issue as the source for concern and school and law enforcement officials concur that there is no reason for alarm.

We are thankful for the diligence and willingness of our school community to assist school and law enforcement officials in ensuring that school safety is our number one objective at Tuscola High School and across all of our Haywood County School campuses.
