At the regular meeting of the Haywood County Schools Board of Education on May 14, 2018, the Board voted to amend the school calendar.  Thursday, June 14, 2018 will be the last day of school for students.  Friday, June 15, 2018 will be a mandatory workday.

North Carolina General Statute 115C-84.2 requires school calendars to include a minimum of 1,025 hours of instruction covering at least nine calendar months.  This school year Haywood County Schools missed thirteen (13) days due to inclement weather.  All of the saved teacher work days and annual leave days were used to make up instructional time.  All schools exceed the required 1,025 hours in the calendar law.

June 15th is the last contract day for teachers and other ten-month employees.  The mandatory work day will be used by teachers and other employees to inventory and store materials, enter student data into the state information data base and fulfill other required end-of-year responsibilities.
