Haywood County Schools is excited to begin the 19-20 school year with three new administrators.  Kim Shipman is now serving as the Elementary Supervisor at the Central Office.  Heather Hollingsworth (Bethel Elementary) and Jennifer Reeves (Jonathan Valley Elementary) are also serving as principals at new schools.

Mrs. Shipman began teaching in 1995 at North Canton Elementary.  While at North Canton, she taught Pre-K, 1st and 2nd grades.  She transferred to Riverbend Elementary in 2000, teaching Kindergarten and 1st Grade until she became the lead teacher in 2007.  Following one year as an Assistant Principal at Waynesville Middle School, she became the principal at Bethel Elementary School in 2014.  Mrs. Shipman says, “My Bethel family is special, and I hold a special place in my heart for them.  I am excited now, as I begin my 25th year with Haywood County Schools, to begin my new role as Elementary Supervisor!”

Mrs. Hollingsworth graduated from Pisgah High School in 1988 and Western Carolina University in 1992.  She began teaching in 1992 at Tuscola High School and taught Health and PE and coached volleyball, basketball, and cheerleaders until 2004.  She served as the Assistant Principal at Pisgah High School from 2004-2010 and became the principal at Jonathan Valley Elementary in 2010, where she worked for nine years.  Mrs. Hollingsworth says, “I’m now back home in my own community of Bethel and VERY excited to be the principal at Bethel Elementary!”

Mrs. Reeves graduated from Appalachian State University, UNC-Charlotte, and Gardner Webb, where she earned her Master of Arts in Executive Leadership Studies.  She began teaching in 1998 at Albemarle Middle School in Stanly County.  In 2001, she moved to Haywood County to teach English Language Arts and Social Studies at Waynesville Middle before moving to Bethel Middle in 2002, where she taught for twelve years.  She returned to Waynesville Middle in 2014 to serve as Assistant Principal.  Mrs. Reeves is also a National Board certified teacher, earning her certification in 2003 and renewing in 2013.
