The following information applies only to the activities scheduled on the Hazelwood Elementary School campus. The Hazelwood Elementary School campus will re-open on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 following a natural gas line leak. This includes summer school for Hazelwood, Junaluska, and Riverbend elementary schools. The re-opening also applies to summer childcare, and other activities scheduled on campus.

State law and funding sources impact how learning and employee time may be made up. A make up summer learning day is scheduled for Friday, July 30, 2021. The summer learning day will be from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. This will provide make up learning time for interested students as well as provide make up work time for summer learning teachers, directors, and bus drivers. These summer learning employees are paid through Federal ESSER (COVID-19) grant funds.

Since twelve-month (12) hourly/classified custodians and clerical are paid through the 2021-22 Local Current Expense Budget. they may (1) work to reach their normal hours for the week. This work must be completed no later than 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2021. Or, they may (2) take accumulated leave to complete work time for the week.

Summer Childcare employees are funded through the Hazelwood Elementary School Budget. Decisions about summer childcare scheduling is determined by the principal.
