Third through fifth graders at Central Elementary School in Waynesville have an exciting, safe new playground thanks to the school’s active PTO group. The Parent Teacher Organization worked hard to raise funds over an extended period of time for a new area for the older students, since younger students already had access to a large play structure. During a recent ribbon cutting ceremony, Principal Wendy Rogers introduced the students to their new area. The structure features a merry-go-round, swings, and an abstract climbing apparatus. Following the ribbon-cutting, classes were each given a chance to try out their new area before the end of the day. Students are very excited about the new equipment. Central Elementary appreciates the PTO and supporters for their help in acquiring the new area.
