The Haywood County School System on behalf of the Tuscola Boosters Club, Pisgah Athletic Boosters, and in conjunction with the Western Carolina University Catamount Club is pleased to announce a new and significant event for Haywood County, the first Haywood County Fall Sports Tailgate Kickoff Party. The event will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from noon until 8:00 pm at “The Imperial” and Smathers Square on Main Street in Canton.

The purpose of the event is to promote the fall sports programs for Pisgah High School, Tuscola High School, as well as Western Carolina University. The event will begin at noon with the playing of fight songs for various colleges as well as Pisgah and Tuscola High Schools. Other events will include a Cornhole Tournament, Half and Half, music, tailgate meals prepared by Sid’s on Main, speeches by WCU Head Football Coach Mark Speir as well as coaches for Tuscola’s and Pisgah’s fall sports.

Additionally, the event will be broadcast live by WPTL 920 am radio station. A special portion of the event will be “Sheriff Christopher’s Big Gun Run”. A race/run including the cross country teams of Tuscola, Pisgah and WCU will occur from the “Big Gun” in Clyde to the event in downtown Canton. Proceeds from the event will be distributed to Tuscola Boosters Club, Pisgah Athletic Boosters and The Catamount Club. Tuscola and Pisgah merchandise will be available and sold by the Booster Clubs.
