Haywood County students from Tuscola and Pisgah High Schools and Haywood County’s Alternative Learning Center actively participated in the 2013 Student Technology Advisory Council (STAC) Fall Conference.  The conference was held on October 10, 2013 at Cherokee Central Schools in Cherokee, North Carolina.  WNCEdNet sponsors the program and the Cherokee Preservation Foundation generously supports it.  Vision and belief in the power of student engagement was emphasized for the attending students from eleven Western North Carolina high schools.

The program is designed to empower and involve high school students from our region in technology-based learning.  This year’s fall event provided learning opportunities in a myriad of technological fields.  Data collection methods, computer programming skills, developing entrepreneurship abilities, and video production techniques are a small sampling of programs provided during the Fall event.  Conference attendees are encouraged to prepare projects for presentation at the spring conference (date to be determined).   The presentation of projects provides a technology showcase for participating STAC council members.
