The fitness rooms are part of a three-year Carol M. White PEP (Physical Education Program) Grant that focuses on improving student health and fitness through physical education classes.

The Grand Opening will be held on Thursday, May 22 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Tuscola High School. A similar ceremony was held in March of 2013 to celebrate the grand opening of new fitness rooms at Pisgah High School and Central Haywood High School.

Dr. Bill Nolte, associate superintendent said, “We were really pleased to receive this grant almost three years ago. Some folks mistakenly think the grant is for athletics or staff wellness. While those are important, this grant is for students in our physical education classes.”
