Dear Tuscola High School Community,

Just before dismissal on the afternoon of Monday, October 20 a non-specific but threatening note was found in one of our bathrooms. As a result, our administrative team executed our school evacuation plan and immediately contacted the Haywood County Sheriff’s office. After a thorough search our campus was deemed safe and normal operating procedures were put into effect.

After receiving the “all clear” determination from the Haywood County Sheriff’s department we recorded a second announcement through the use of our Blackboard connect alert system to inform our community that our school had been cleared and that we were back on a normal operating schedule. This announcement did not go out as scheduled. We apologize for the technical issues that prevented this message from being sent.

This morning we are back and operating on a normal schedule. We appreciate all of the patience and support that you provide your students and our school. If you have any questions

please feel free to contact the school at any time.

Sincerely,

Travis Collins
