Dr. Trevor Putnam has been selected as the next Superintendent of Haywood County Schools.  The Haywood County Board of Education voted to select Dr. Putnam at the regular Board of Education meeting on Monday, September 12, 2022.  Dr. Putnam will begin serving as Superintendent on November 1, 2022 following the retirement of Dr. Bill Nolte.

Dr. Putnam has 26 years of service in Haywood County Schools.  He served previously as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal and Associate Superintendent.  His experience stretches across all levels including elementary school, middle school, high school and Central Office leadership.

“I am grateful and honored to serve as Haywood County Schools’ Superintendent,” said Dr. Trevor Putnam.  “We have a long history of perseverance and excellence.  Our strength can be found in our students, staff and communities.  I will work hard to garner that strength and embrace all of the things that make us uniquely Haywood as we continue our path of excellence.”

“Dr. Putnam will continue the great work that has made Haywood County Schools one of the best in the state,” said Board Chairman, Chuck Francis.  “He has been a valuable member of the administrative team and we look forward to working with him in his new role as Superintendent.  Congratulations to Dr. Putnam.”

“I applaud the Board of Education for making a great and obvious choice,” said Superintendent, Dr. Bill Nolte.  “As I finish my time as Superintendent, I will support Dr. Putnam and the Board as they work to establish a smooth and effective transition.”
