Haywood County Schools would like to welcome you to the North Carolina School Report Card site.  The site provides valuable information about our schools and how our system compares to others across the state. The Report Card serves as a comprehensive resource for school performance, school discipline, high school graduation rates, and digital learning devices. You will also find data for class sizes, attendance, school safety and teacher quality.

In 2012-13, North Carolina public schools began using a new Standard Course of Study, new student assessments and a new school accountability model.  The new curriculum and assessments reflect higher standards and expectations for our students.  Students are expected to master more rigorous material than in the past and our focus is not only on grade level proficiency, but also on college and career readiness measures designed to help students be successful beyond high school graduation.

The current 2016-17 Report Card represents the fifth year of the state’s READY initiative.   The implementation in the 2012-13 school year set the baseline for the new proficiency standards and expectations.

We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our teachers and students during this transition.   In 2015-16 and 2016-17, Haywood County Schools ranked 11th among the 115 school districts in North Carolina in overall performance composite, placing us in the top 10% of all schools in the state. This is up from a district ranking of 15th during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years.

In academic composite performance, Riverbend Elementary is in the top 1% of Title I schools testing third through fifth grade students. Clyde Elementary and Haywood Early College both exceeded the accountability growth standard and HEC ranked fourth in North Carolina in college and career ready performance composite among Early Colleges.  Haywood County Schools ranked 12th of 115 districts in ACT composite performance.   As state and federal standards and expectations rise, our schools are rising to meet those challenges! While these are impressive statistics, the Report Card is just a snapshot of the incredible opportunities our students experience each day. We know we couldn’t do this without the continued support of parents and the community.
