On Wednesday, January 22, 2014, Haywood County Schools will be closed for staff and students.  This is a “Closed/No Day.” Weather permitting, this day will be made up on Saturday, January 25th.  On Saturday, buses will run, breakfast and lunch will be served, and school will dismiss at 12:00 pm.

Guidance for Staff Regarding Saturday Make Up Day from Dr. Garrett and Dr. Nolte:

Since Saturday make up days are fairly rare, we want to remind staff about the work schedule for the remainder of the week.

For contract, payroll and Saturday supervision purposes, we need to do the following:

• Ten-month employees (certified, licensed, classified and hourly) should NOT come to work (unless directed to do so by his or her principal/director). These folks need to work on the Saturday “make up” day.

• Eleven and twelve month employees will NOT work on the “closed/no” day and plan to work on the designated Saturday make up day.

• If you are an eleven or twelve month employee who is also a classified or hourly paid employee, you should NOT work six days in one week unless you are specifically asked to do so by your principal or supervisor.

• If you are an eleven or twelve month employee who is also a certified or licensed employee (mainly administrators), you are welcome to work six or seven days in one week. I’m joking a little here.

However, some eleven and twelve month administrators will get to work more than five days in one week. Sorry, there is no overtime for licensed employees.

We hope this is helpful. Please check with your principal, director or supervisor if you have questions that are not answered in this communication.
