The first grade classes at Central Elementary School in Waynesville celebrated Thanksgiving with food and fun. Mrs. Noland’s class and Mrs. Spurrier’s class have been studying pilgrims and Native Americans. Some of the students have made Mayflower books and cornbread. One of the highlights of their study was making homemade butter! They have also used comparison and contrast to discuss the lives of pilgrim children and children today. The classes joined together to form a large group for the feast. They donned pilgrim hats and Native American headdresses that they had made for the festive occasion.
