The recent weather related school closings have caused the end-of-semester workday to change to Tuesday, January 21. The floating workday is scheduled for schools to prepare report cards and for transitioning semesters for high schools, especially those on the block schedule. The workday is needed for retesting of state required exams and making schedule changes for some students prior to the beginning of the second semester.

The end-of-semester workday originally scheduled for Wednesday, January 15 has been moved to Tuesday, January 21. Wednesday, January 15 will be a regular school day for students and staff.

State regulations require that standardized testing occur during the last five days for semester courses. The new testing window for high school block courses is January 13-17.

Dr. Bill Nolte, associate superintendent said, “We considered having one of the make up days on Saturday. However, with the new state testing regulations, that would have required us to do high school end-of-course testing on the Saturday make up day. Since Saturday make up days often have poor attendance, that was not a good option.”
