Melissa Bradian McClure Award 2015 16Melissa Bradian a Social Studies and English Language Arts teacher from Bethel Middle School has been selected to represent Haywood County Schools in the Global Teachers to Singapore and Malaysia professional development during the summer of 2015. Global Teachers to Singapore and Malaysia is a professional development program for K-12 educators that will allow them to explore technological innovation, STEM approach and urban education, as well as gain an enhanced awareness of Singapore and Malaysia’s history, culture and education system.

Each year the James G. K. McClure Fund offers an award designated for teachers from Haywood County Schools. The McClure Award will cover the full cost of the program fee of approximately $6,000. The program fee covers: international economy round-trip airfare from Raleigh or Charlotte, airport taxes, health insurance during the international portion of the program, double-room hotel accommodations, most meals, ground transportation abroad, and program costs in Singapore & Malaysia. The program fee also includes orientation and follow-up costs: speakers, facilities, some meals, materials, and an information handbook.
