On Thursday, September 10, 2015, students enrolled in Mrs. McCall’s American History II classes took a field trip to visit the Vietnam Veterans’ Moving Memorial Wall at the Harley-Davidson store in Swannanoa. Students were able to view all the names on the wall, which is a replica of the official Wall in Washington, DC. Students were able to look for names and make rubbings of the names. Vietnam War veterans were present and shared their stories and experiences of the war with the students. Students were able to get a better understanding of why these veterans were willing to go to Vietnam to fight for the United States. Following the trip, students, in conjunction with Constitution Day on September 17, wrote thank-you letters to the veterans in appreciation of their service in upholding the principles of liberty and freedom.
