Pink-Relay

WMS kicked off the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, by hosting a “pink out” volleyball game. Volleyball players from both Waynesville and Bethel Middle dressed in pink t-shirts to show their love and support to Mrs. Julie Hendricks. Mrs. Hendricks is a front office staff member at WMS and is currently battling breast cancer.

In addition, WMS helped in the fight to battle breast cancer by becoming a lead sponsor of the Haywood Power of Pink event. This event is hosted annually by the Haywood Healthcare Foundation. The purpose of the Power of Pink event is to raise funds to provide free mammograms to underserved women in Haywood County. WMS contributed $1000 in sponsorship fund to this event.

On Oct. 23rd, WMS showed up to the Power of Pink 5K at Haywood Regional Fitness with their game faces on. WMS took home the grand prize trophy for top participating school. And, several students and teachers medaled in the event.
