Ron Yuval, an internationally renowned artist, composer, and educator came to Central Elementary to share a few of his many talents.  Students were entertained by his storytelling and with various ethnic musical numbers in which he played the oud, an instrument very similar to the lute.  He was accompanied by a fellow musician who played hand drums such as the goblet and bodhran.  Not only did Yuval demonstrate different styles of playing but also his exceptional ability as a musician.  Yuval is a graduate of Berklee College in Boston and his many accomplishments include having composed the songs and score for the Oscar winning film West Bank Story in 2007, many tv and film scores, commissions from various international choreographers, original scores for theater productions, receiving the Los Angeles Treasures Award in 2004, and prestigious grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, American Composers Forum, California Council for the Humanities, and the Rockefeller Foundation.
