international-literacy-day

To promote literacy in our youngest children and in celebration of International Literacy Day, Haywood County Schools gave away 125 books on September 8th.

Books ranged from Thomas the Train to Spiderman to Doc McStuffins. While children picked out a free book, their parents were given information about the importance of reading to their children.

Jill Barker, Haywood County Schools Title I and AIG director, explained that reading to children just 15 minutes each day can have a lasting and positive impact on their future education.
