Kayleigh McAlister is an outstanding beginning teacher at Canton Middle School so it was no surprise to learn that she had applied for and received a scholarship of $500 for materials for her seventh grade Language Arts classes.  Kayleigh graduated from Western Carolina University and received the Hattie Strong scholarship.  That made her eligible to apply for the Bobbie Fund scholarship.  She used the money she received to purchase books and other supplies that wouldn’t have been available otherwise.

After Kayleigh got the materials, Signid Reynolds, who had presented Kayleigh with the scholarship, came to CMS for a visit. After her visit, she wrote Kayleigh a note saying, “I can tell you love it and your students love you! We’re just so proud!” Kayleigh has been invited to attend a meeting with Ms Reynolds at Western Carolina University to discuss the scholarship.  Later she’ll be a part of a presentation to student teachers at Western Carolina University about her experiences as a beginning teacher. We’re just so proud of her too!
