On Monday, December 10, 2018, Haywood County Schools will be Closed due to inclement weather.  This is an Optional Teacher Workday.

UPDATE:
Press Release:  Staff Update Regarding Inclement Weather

We hope everyone is safe after the winter weather that impacted Haywood County yesterday afternoon and throughout the night.

Monday, December 10th is an Optional Day.  The school calendar will be adjusted after the impact of this round of winter weather ends and school is back in session.

Please make individual decisions based upon safety.  The following is guidance for Haywood County Schools’ employees regarding Monday, December 10th.

  • Employees may work if travel conditions permit.
  • Employees may take appropriate accumulated leave.
  • Employees who cannot travel safety and do not have accumulated leave should confer with their principal (or direct supervisor) to discuss schedule flexibility options that are available based upon the employee’s contract and job classification.

We are participating in an Emergency Management Update at 3:00 p.m.  We plan to make a call for Tuesday in the late afternoon or early evening.

The guidance provided above can be used for future Optional Days, unless new guidance is provided.

The Board of Education meeting is being rescheduled for Thursday, December 13th.

As a reminder, extra-curricular activities outside normal school hours are under the direction of the (1) principal and athletic director or (2) the principal and appropriate school club/organization sponsor.  Announcements regarding extra-curricular activities are generated at the school site.

Employees should check with their principal, or direct supervisor, if they have critical questions that are not answered in this communication.

Be safe and stay warm.
