Update from Bill Nolte regarding Central Haywood High School: “The soft lockdown at Central Haywood High School has been lifted. There is no apparent danger or threat to the school.”

Earlier today, staff at Central Haywood High School (CHHS) heard three noises in the distance that sounded somewhat like gun fire or a vehicle backfiring. For precautionary purposes, CHHS is on a soft lockdown. Regular activities are occurring inside the building. Law enforcement is on campus. Students and staff will remain in the building. Clyde Elementary School was notified and will take similar precautionary steps.

There is NOT an active situation on campus. Students and staff are safe. The soft lockdown is a precautionary action.
