Two waves of precipitation are expected to impact Haywood County in the coming days.  The first wave is expected to occur after midnight and into the early morning hours of Thursday, February 27, 2020.  We expect most areas north and west of Clyde, NC to be below freezing as the precipitation occurs between midnight and 7:00 a.m.  Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing until the afternoon.  Warm ground temperatures will limit accumulation of snow.  However, many roadways have a good chance of being icy and dangerous for travel.

A second wave of moisture will pass through the area after dark on Friday and last into Saturday morning.  The opportunity for icy travel appears to be a little more significant on Friday night and Saturday.

Members of our Morning Crew will be out early on Thursday.  Everyone should get a good night’s sleep and be ready for school on Thursday.   If the weather develops as expected and a school schedule change becomes necessary, we will use the normal announcement channels.
