We begin by thanking everyone for your support and patience as we continue to work through many evolving orders, rules, and regulations related to the current COVID-19 Pandemic.  A couple of weeks ago, we began planning and meeting about the possibility of re-opening our summer child care camps.  On May 6th, the state issued interim guidance through this link https://files.nc.gov/ncdhhs/documents/files/covid-19/NC-Interim-Guidance-for-Day-Camp-Settings.pdf.  We share the link for the reading pleasure of our fellow regulatory nerds.

This morning, several of us participated in an electronic meeting with our eight elementary principals.  In addition to the requirements found in the link above, we are limited by the number of employees who have the appropriate training and are able to work during the pandemic.  We are also limited in our ability to quickly hire and certify new employees (finger printing, drug testing, background checks, etc.).  We are hopeful we may be able to provide some summer camp services for working parents.  We have another meeting next week and hope to make an announcement by Friday, May 22nd.

Again, thanks for your support and patience as we work to support our students, staff, parents, and community in these most unusual times.  Be safe, be smart, be calm, and be kind.
