The last student day for the 2020-21 school year was Friday, June 4, 2021. The last ten month employee contract day for the 2020-21 school year is today (Monday, June 7, 2021). The following COVID-19 related adjustments become effective on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

  • Summer learning and childcare sites will follow established Plan A procedures while students are being transported and during times students are in attendance.
  • Temperature checks and other symptom screenings are no longer required at Haywood County Schools facilities. Employees and students are required to report to their principal/director and remain at home if any of the following apply:
    • You or someone you live with has been diagnosed with COVID-19
    • You have COVID-19 symptoms
    • You have been a “close contact” to someone diagnosed with COVID-19
  • Community Facility Use Agreements may resume (indoors and outside) during times and locations that do not impact school activities. Community Facility Use Agreements remain under the authority of the school principals in consultation with Dr. Putnam or Dr. Nolte in Dr. Putnam’s absence.
  • Local fieldtrips are authorized to resume following COVID-19 protocols for Haywood County Schools and fieldtrip locations.
  • Athletic activities will follow the guidance of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
