This is a school calendar update following missed school days associated with Tropical Storm Fred. June 1-3 are now scheduled as regular student days. Friday, June 3, 2022 is currently the last scheduled student day for the 2021-22 school year. Please share this calendar adjustment as appropriate.

The next missed weather day(s) will be Remote Learning Optional Workdays (RLOWs). As a reminder, RLOWs are front-loaded learning days for students. RLOWs are optional workdays for teachers and other staff.

Beginning with the 2020-21 school year, the NC General Assembly required all school systems to add five RLOWs into the student calendar at the beginning of the year. Haywood County Schools and other school systems with frequent inclement weather are authorized to add five more Remote Learning Optional workdays (with a maximum of 10) to address closures due to weather. Using Remote Learning Optional Workdays allows us to count learning time and avoid extending the school year for students.

If school is missed in association with Tropical Strom Ida, the missed weather day(s) will be RLOWs. As a reminder, RLOWs are front-loaded learning days for students. RLOWs are optional workdays for teachers and other staff. Teachers are asked to prepare for the possible use of RLOWs and share information as appropriate with students.
