On September 24 and November 29 Tuscola STEM students (Darla Forester, Gabriel Markley, Sarah Super and Landry Willson) delivered science to students throughout western North Carolina.  They presented a set of chemistry demonstrations that provided examples of chemical change.  The STEM E workshop led by Jim Davis, chemistry teacher at Tuscola High School, featured a series of chemical reactions to help students understand the signs of a chemical reaction.  Reactions included elephant’s toothpaste, production of a poisonous gas, and several other exciting reactions.

“Chemical reactions can be confusing, I believe our presentation removed some of the misconceptions about those interactions” said Landry Willson.   Sarah Super added “We were thrilled to participate and provide science concepts for so many students throughout our region”.  These workshops were part of the Fall 2021 Virtual STEM-E Conferences.  The September 24 sessions served western North Carolina elementary and middle school students and the November 29 sessions were provided for regional high school students. The program is sponsored by WNC-EDNET, The Cherokee Preservation Foundation, and WRESA.
