Ms. Wells has been named the Western Region Principal of the Year and is now one of nine regional finalists for the 2025 NC Principal of the Year award.

The exciting announcement was made during a school assembly, where Ms. Wells was surprised by Mrs. Beckie Spears, the 2024 Wells Fargo Principal of the Year. Mrs. Spears, joined by Ms. Wells’ family, students, staff, district administrators, and members of the selection committee, delivered the incredible news.

In her remarks, Mrs. Spears highlighted the qualities that earned Ms. Wells this prestigious honor:
“Through all of the collaboration, the creativity, and your radiant smile, you have inspired this team of educators, parents, and children to work together to accomplish truly important and challenging goals. You work so closely with families to build bridges between school and home, creating partnerships that uplift every person in this community.”

This award celebrates outstanding leadership and dedication to education. Ms. Wells’ journey began when she was named Haywood County Principal of the Year. She then advanced to the regional selection process, where state representatives evaluated her portfolio and conducted interviews.

As one of the nine finalists, Ms. Wells now moves on to the state-level competition, where her exceptional contributions will be evaluated by a state selection committee.
