National Board Certification validates your teaching practices, advances your career, increases financial opportunities, provides a portable teaching license in most states, and contributes to CEU re-certification requirements.

    • Data includes annual test scores in grades 3-5 for three years

    • Estimates of the increase in learning are on the order of an additional one to two months of instruction.

Are You Eligible for National Board Certification?

An eligible candidate must have…

  • a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • completed three full years of teaching or school counseling; and
  • a valid teaching license or a license to practice as a school counselor.

How Does North Carolina Support National Board Certification?

  • lends the $1,900 assessment fee;
  • provides up to three days of paid professional leave;
  • provides 8.0 CEUs for completion of the process; and
  • pays salary differential of 12% of base salary.
